Hawaii Needs a Tax Holiday

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Richard Borreca has an excellent column in this morning's Star-Bulletin about a tax holiday... which Hawaii does not have.

"In Missouri, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee, the annual sales tax holiday ended this weekend.

In seven other states, their tax holiday is at a different time of the year.

Some states have more than one tax holiday."

Hello? Is anyone in the big square building besides Senator Sam Slom reading this? We need a tax holiday. Plain and simple.

Mr. Borreca refers to Senator Slom's State tax Holiday (SB 109) bill that was introduced this year, but never heard. The bill is still alive and carries over to the 2008 session. If you feel strongly that Hawaii needs a tax holiday, please contact your state senator and ask that they urge the leadership of the Senate to put the bill on the hearing agenda next year.

Remember, it’s your money. Whatever we can save from the mean old State Taxman will enable us to stretch our hard earned dollars to buy more of those things that we need, even if it is just for one or a few days. Every penny counts!
